Night had fallen and the vast majority of the people had already fallen fast asleep. The shops in this tranquil little town were all closed for the night and all was dark. People here didn't go out at night for fear that a monster would take them. Their fears were rational of course, after all their was a monster but that monster was a bit closer than they expected. Why shouldn't it be? They did settle on the monster's land.
Looking out the window at the stillness of the night, the dark haired demon smiled. It was a calm, happy little smile that most children wear when they see something they like. Her current predicament was interesting to say the least. A family had offered to let her stay for the night. Their fear of the "monster" being great enough to open their home to a stranger. She twirled a strand of her hair between her fingers as she thought. Her gaze slid to the white bunny doll that sat on the edge of the window and her expression softened. It lasted only a moment. She heard the creaking of the wooden floor behind her and she turned around to look at who it was. It was the eldest son of the family that had offered her a place to sleep for the night. He fixed her with a glare that would make any average person shrink away. This boy was beginning to get problematic and eventually something would happen that would teach him to be a good little rat. Always at the scene of her little escapades. Always trying to find out who exactly caused such a mess at night. He had aired his suspicions that she was the cause but no one believed him.
Still smiling, she flipped her hair at him as she turned back to the window. He wouldn't be a problem. People like him never were but they were fun to play with. During the little staredown, the bunny had slipped from its place on the window. Nowhere to be seen. Nowhere to be heard. He didn't take much notice of it but she did. The bunny was always doing that. Always disappearing for a minute or two but it never left for long. A choked sound caught her attention and she glanced behind her. The bunny was in front of his face. Staring at him. She could tell from the boy's horrified expression that the bunny was grinning at him, its eyes wide and crazed looking, with blood running down the face. Facing the boy again, her smile was no longer friendly. It was sardonic. Cruel.
"How about I teach you some manners, boy?" she asked. The question was rhetorical but the words themselves carried enough menace to paralyze the boy with fear. It only took those few seconds for chains dark as night to snake their way around him. She walked up to him slowly, stopping just before him. She brought the back of her gloved left hand to his right cheek and ran it under his chin before resting it on the other cheek. "You were right you know," she informed him, her face an inch from his.

These humes they were like pests, moving in a building their sad little shacks, hiding behind walls made of sticks and mud. Echo scoffed at the sight of it, it was more a mess than anything else. The fact that they dared create such a thing on her land was ever more inexcusable. The girl who brought storms, that was what she was known as around here. They thought her to be a monster or a Goddess, Echo was sure of it. Why shouldn't they think such things of her? Her power was something that could not be compared to that of the pathetic humes that settled here.
Hovering in the air Echo made her way into the village, doors were closed tight, most windows were shut up as well. Fear ruled here, ideas that if they couldn't see a threat then they would be safe. It made Echo laugh to herself, such thoughts were stupid. She could bring a storm that could blow away most of the houses that they built here. She probably would, maybe not today but she would. It was fun watching these creatures suffer, like insects, they were easily squished. Floating into town the demon looked about, decided where she should strike first. It wasn't uncommon for her to kill one hume a night, sometimes more.
Tonight she decided on a house with open windows, perhaps they would see her coming and welcome her in. They were always so scared for the little girl that wandered in at night, what would she do it the monsters came? She would surely be eaten, how terrible. The girl hovered closer, only landing on her feet when she was close enough to the shack that she didn't have to walk very far. Small bare feet walked silently on the dusty ground, ribbons wrapped up the girl's ankles. She was dressed in what looked like a nighty, her hair flowing behind her perfectly.
"Hello?" the demon called. Her voice sound like that of a sweet innocent child. "H-help, Mama is gone," Echo played her role well, her whimpers sounded real. Almost as if she were about to cry, "p-please... let me in..."

She paused for a moment. The sound of whimpering catching her attention. She pressed a finger to his lips as if telling him to be quiet. It was a simple gesture that carried with it a hint of black magic. She pulled away from him and turned to the door that lead downstairs. "It seems you have a visitor. Mind if I answer the door?" she asked, glancing at him over her shoulder. His response was nothing but silenced words and squirming. The more he struggled, the tighter the chains became. Returning her gaze before her, she scoffed "Didn't think so." she said with a smirk.
With that said, she walked the few steps to the door, opened it wide enough to slip through and closed it silently behind her. The pathetic words of a helpless child leading her down the stairs. When she reached the bottom of the stairs, she decided to have a little fun with whoever that child on the other side of the front door was. She took a deep breath and as she exhaled the room grew clouded with a dense fog that would obscure anyone's vision. Having power over water came in handy for such tricks. She watched as a tiny figure hovered over her shoulder for a brief moment before hovering over to a spot in front of the door and dropped a few steps in front of the door, easily seen when the door was open. With the bunny on the ground, all was in place.
A chain slowly pulled the door open just enough for the one standing outside to see it was open. The mist drifted out of the house slowly, never seeming to stop. Making sure to stay out of sight, she watched....and waited.

Instead a thick fog seemed to creep from the doorway, instinctively the demon called upon her wind abilities to blow the fog away from her. Her eyes narrowed for a moment, suspicion filling her, what was the cause of this strange fog?
"Hello?" she decided to keep up her act for the moment. Pushing the door open further and poking her head in, her wind cut through the fog clearing a path for her. "Is anyone home? It's scary out here..." Forcing her voice to make a little squeak, Echo silently applauded herself for her great acting skills. Ringing her hands Echo walked further into the house, nearly stepping on the rabbit that lay on the floor. Back stepping quickly, the demon looked down at the strange doll, or at least that is what it appeared to be. Bending down the girl picked up the rabbit and looked it over, wrinkling her nose at how old the thing looked. "What are you doing sitting in the middle of the floor, Mr. Rabbit?" Echo said in her most sweet and innocent voice. "I could have stepped on you."

As the demon who entered used wind to clear her path, the mist would grow thicker with each attempt, leaving nothing seeable except the little doll she wrinkled her nose at. Should she pay close attention, she would notice its mouth twitch, almost as if it were trying not to smile. Just the mist playing trick on her, would be what any normal person would think. As the demon look at the doll with clear distaste, she would speak, her sweet sounding words contradicting the look of disgust on her face.
Watching silently, Rae remained in her little hidden spot. The grin on her face sliding into nonexistence, only to be replaced by an unamused look. No, she was not happy that the girl would treat her friend with such disregard but it was only natural for most. The bunny twitched for a moment before hovering in the demon's face. "Who are you? Who?" its words whispered in the demon's mind, "Why do you pretend to be one of them? Why?" The bunny would hover in front of her eyes while it first started to speak for only a brief moment before circling her. The bunny circled her slowly only to stop once again in front of her. The last word it spoke seemed to be screamed into her mind. So much force on that last word that the bunny even got in her face as it was said. With the bunny less than an inch away from her face, it would pause and drop back on the ground as a shadow seemed to appear.
The shadow would grow closer until its owner faded into view. Its owner was that of the girl controlling the mist but the demon wouldn't know that. She approached the demon looking slightly terrified and frantic but it seemed to disappear when she saw the bunny on the floor. She picked up the bunny and raised it to the ceiling with an ecstatic grin on her face before hugging the bunny tightly. "I can't believe you wandered all the way here. Such a bad little bunny, running off like that. You had me worried." The words were childish and innocent and obviously directed at the bunny. It was like she hadn't even seen Echo. Loosening her grip on the bunny so that she held it lightly in one arm, she raised her violet eyes to the demon before her. She let out a small gasp when she met the demon's gaze and took a seemingly terrified step back. Most would see fear in her eyes as she was taken aback, but they were wrong. It wasn't fear. It was shock.
"Who...are you?"
